The starting salary for this position is £52,947 per annum, based on a 36-hour working week.

This is a fixed term contract/ secondment opportunity until 31st March 2026.

We are looking for an innovative Occupational Therapy lead for the North and South West area who will work alongside the Therapy manager, senior managers and area Occupational Therapy leads to implement the management of the Reablement service. In this role you will provide expertise knowledge, guidance and advice to Occupational Therapists, team leaders and Reablement workers within the service.

The Reablement service supports this agenda by supporting people in their own homes to promote wellbeing and independence through skills gain programmes and we are embedding a therapy led Reablement offer. 

About the Role 

You will understand how to embed and ensure staff use a strengths-based approach in assessment and intervention of a service user and work alongside the Reablement Transformation team to support and roll out changes to improve the service. Able to work with partners across Surrey's locality teams and hospital teams, you will focus on ensuring we support residents and reduce their need for long-term support. You will also support preceptorship OTs and OT trainees and take a lead role in facilitating training sessions for Reablement staff.

The Reablement Service has entered an exciting phase of Transformation in which a large focus is to expand and develop our Occupational Therapists ensuring we are a therapy-led service. 

Shortlisting Criteria

To be considered for shortlisting for this position, your application will clearly evidence the following:

  • Your knowledge and experience of managing and supporting staff.
  • Experience of working with Mental health and/or Learning disability and Autism.
  • Your ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in Reablement and our partner agencies to deliver personalised, strength-based interventions.
  • HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist.


You will need to have the ability to travel across the whole county and may be required to attend meetings outside usual working hours, to meet the needs of the people we support.

An enhanced DBS ‘Disclosure and Barring Service’ check for regulated activity (formerly known as CRB) and the Children’s and Adults’ Barred List checks will be required for this role.
