We have a 1-year fixed term contract or secondment opportunity for a full time Team Manager to join our Children’s Academy to support with the recruitment and development of international social workers. The salary range for Team Managers is  £52,942- £57,125 per annum.

About the role:

This new exciting role has been created within the Children’s Services Academy for a 1 year period, to support a cohort of International Social Workers being recruited from South Africa.  You will lead on creating an induction and support package for the new social workers and will manage a team of Advanced Social Workers delivering direct support to them, enabling and empowering them to adapt and adjust to working in the United Kingdom. To support you with your work you will have help from a Business Support worker, and you will work closely with the other managers in the Academy to share learning and development ideas. Close working and collaboration with line managers and other colleagues in the frontline social work teams to support the International Social Workers will also be a key feature and focus of your role. 

You will be encouraged to be innovative, put research into practice, and ensure that the ISWs are provided with great professional support, learning opportunities to succeed, and are welcomed as valuable colleagues committed to working for and remaining part of Surrey Children’s Services supporting our children and families to achieve positive outcomes.

To be shortlisted to interview, your CV will clearly evidence:

  • A Social Work qualification such as a Degree, Masters or Post Graduate Diploma in Social Work. 
  • Experience of working in statutory social work roles with children, young people and their families.
  • Registered with Social Work England.
  • Experience of managing and supporting staff and developing social workers.
  • Passion and motivation for supporting individuals or teams with their professional growth as part of a one service approach to working together.
