About the Role
Surrey’s All Age Autism Strategy 2021-2026 (AAAS) aims to build acceptance of autism in Surrey to reduce stigma and discrimination, so that autistic people feel welcomed and supported in their community. We are looking for a proactive and committed individual who can work alongside autistic people, parent carers and internal and external partners.
As the strategy enters its final phase, you will lead a steering group who will offer direction and guidance to a project which focuses on creating sustainable, accessible, and coproduced resources that support autistic children and young people, their parent carers, and professionals. The aim is to promote positive and supportive messaging around autism, provide clear guidance before and after an autism assessment, and ensure that resources reflect the voices and needs of autistic people.
The project will:
- Create coproduced resources with partners
- Identify existing credible resources within our Surrey-wide network
- Identify areas where resources need to be developed and work with our partners to address the gaps
- Link with other teams in health, education and social care to ensure resources are developed appropriately
These resources, ranging from webpages and podcasts to videos and printed materials, will be developed in collaboration with autistic people, families, and partners across health, education, and social care. The project also seeks to identify and share existing credible materials, ensuring that learning from the strategy is preserved and accessible in multiple formats for years to come.
Reporting into the All-Age Autism Service Manager, and working closely with the All-Age Autism Coordinator, you will manage a small budget of approximately £15,000 per annum to develop resources. You will work in partnership with other stakeholders to ensure resources are developed in line with organisational expectations and required standards.
