We are seeking Bank Supervising Social Workers, specialising in Kinship Fostering to join our fantastic Fostering Team.

  • Learning and development hub where you can access a wealth of resources

About the Team

Our Fostering service is a creative service that works with the theories of trauma, attachment and loss, to ensure the best outcomes for our children and young people.

About the Role

We are currently seeking qualified social workers to join us on a bank basis meaning you’ll work as and when required, to complete assessments, consider applicants for Kinship Fostering, Special Guardianship, or both. We use the Form K (Coram Baaf), for completing assessments.

These assessments are required in short timescales, so you will need to be self-motivated and accustomed to working autonomously and to deadlines. You will have good IT and communication skills, with experience of establishing rapport with families in times of stress.

You will also need to be willing to attend court or fostering panel, to present your assessment, as and when required.

 Your Application

In order to be considered for shortlisting, your application will clearly evidence the following skills, experience and align with our behaviours:

  • Be a qualified Social Worker, registered with Social Work England
  • Have experience of working in Kinship/Connected Persons Fostering
  • Be able to produce clear, triangulated, evidence based and analytical assessments

To apply, we request that you submit a CV and you will be asked the following questions:

  1. Describe the most important qualities Kinship carers need.
  2. Please tell us about the key skills and abilities you would bring to this role.
  3. What motivates you, to work with Kinship carers?

Before submitting your application, we recommend you read the job description & Our Life at Surrey handbook to get an insight into working at Surrey.

Surrey has both urban and rural areas and Social Workers will be expected to have a valid driving licence to drive in the UK, access to a vehicle and be willing to travel across a wide geographical area. Reasonable adjustments where needed will be made for successful applicants who have a disability or long-term health condition to enable them to fulfil the requirements of the job.

An enhanced DBS ‘Disclosure and Barring Service’ check for regulated activity (formerly known as CRB) and the Children’s and Adults’ Barred List checks will be required for this role.
